Salsa Level 1

Welcome to salsa!

This course is an introduction to this fast-paced danceform rooted in Cuban music. We will cover stepping, movement, and partner work, right turns, left turns, and basic cross-body lead. You should take this course if you are a total beginner, and you do not need to bring a partner because we all dance together.

Salsa Level 2

Step up your beginner moves introducing traveling turns. Level 2 Salsa is presented in two alternating six-week segments. One segment covers traveling left turns and introduces hammerlocks, combs, and combining patterns. The other segment focuses on traveling right turns and introduces free spins and trails. Students should attend both segments at least once if not more to solidify these fundamental concepts. Many students stay in level 2 for up to a year.

Salsa Level 3 

Once you are comfortable with Level 2 fundamentals, this course will bridge you from a beginner to an intermediate/advanced level. It is presented in two six-week segments, with an overall focus on intros and exits. Level 3A covers baskets and copas, while Level 3B covers wraps and titanics. Students should attend both Levels A and B, and we recommend staying in Level 3 longer to gain a solid grasp of these fundamental concepts.

Salsa Intermediate 1-2

These six-week intermediate/advanced courses explore the finer aspects of technique, musicality,  body movement, partner connection, floor craft and styling. Led by head instructor Cornell Mannings, you'll explore nuanced footwork, intricate partner connections, musicality, and personalized styling elements to elevate your salsa to a whole new level. Most students have completed Levels 1 – 3 or equivalent. This course involves new material every session and is ideal for trained dancers who wish to evolve and expand their repertoire and technique continuously.

Bachata Level 1

Welcome to Bachata!

This six-week course is an introduction to the ‘slow dance’ of Latin America, rooted in the music of the Dominican Republic.  We will cover basic stepping, movement, and partner work, right turns, left turns, lead and follow technique, directional changes, and simple syncopations. You should take this if you are a beginner and you do not need to bring a partner because we all dance together.

Bachata Level 2

This six-week course expands on technique including hip isolations, closed-hold, cross-body lead, Dominican step, hand tosses, and developing simple combinations. Many students stay in level 2 for more than one session to gain a solid understanding of fundamentals.

Bachata Level 3

This six-week course explores the finer aspects of technique, musicality,  body movement, partner connection, floor craft and styling. Led by our head instructor Cornell Mannings, you will further develop technique established in levels 1 & 2, and the lead/follow connection. Master combinations, both in execution and memory, with increasing complexity.

Kizomba

Kizomba dance originates in Angola, and is known for its smooth, flowing movements and close connection between partners. The dance features a slow, steady rhythm and is performed in a close embrace, with fluid movements. The lead guides the follow through gentle steps, emphasizing a strong connection and harmonious flow. Popular in Angola and Europe, Kizomba blends traditional Angolan rhythms with influences from other genres.

Private Lessons

Private lessons in Salsa or Bachata can be purchased as single lessons, or as packages of three or five lessons. Rates depend on frequency and on which instructor you book. Availability is based on the schedules of both the instructor and the student. Private lessons are ideal for people who work irregular hours or shifts and therefore cannot adhere to a group class schedule, or for people who want an accelerated learning experience. Privates can be booked for individuals or couples.

Rueda de Casino

Rueda is a style of salsa originating in Cuba where couples form a circle and execute turn patterns in unison, switching partners to the calls of a single leader. Dancers must have basic salsa training to attend Beginner, and we currently run a beginner and a more advanced course.
